It's no longer news that the CEO of Facebook and the 7th richest man in the world, Mark Zuckerberg is in Lagos, Nigeria. Almost all Blogs - Technology, Entertainment, News etc and Websites in Nigeria have published at least one article or the other about this surprise visit. This is Mark Zuckerberg's first trip to sub-Saharan Africa and out of the countries in sub-Saharan Africa, he decided to visit Nigeria first. Why?
Simply because he wants to meet with developers and entrepreneurs in Nigeria (being the largest African nation that uses Facebook and the Internet as a whole most) and also to learn about the startup ecosystem in the country. Zuckerberg loves the amazing energy in Lagos and he also expressed how excited he is to learn as much as possible. Visiting the Co-creation Hub (CcHUB), Nigeria's own Silicon valley in Yaba, Lagos first and later paying Andela a visit.
At the end of the day Zuckerberg stopped by an Express WiFi stand in Lagos owned by Rosemary Njoku. Facebook’s Express WiFi lets entrepreneurs like Rosemary set up a hotspot to help their community access apps and services built by local developers. More updates will be published on this Blog about Facebook's Express WiFi across Africa.
